Beautiful selenite.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite crystals.
So pure, and so powerful.
I recently heard a friend describe it as being used as a little vacuum, you can wave it over your body and it sucks up all the heavy and negative energy.
It’s now a visualization I use while waving my selenite wand around my body.

What Is Selenite?
Selenite is a transparent variety of Gypsum. It’s comprised of the crystallization of the calcium sulphate mineral. It comes in pale shades of pearly white with a clay-like texture. It also comes in varieties known as desert rose, satin spar, and gypsum flower.
Selenite forms in enormous deposits and beds of sedimentary rocks such as limestone or in clay. There have been instances of selenite forming in igneous rock. The mineral selenite can be found all over the world but is most often found in Mexico, Poland, Russia, Greece, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, and the United States.
Selenite is aptly named after Selene, the Greek Goddess of the Moon.
The Greeks revered this beautiful stone, even using it to make windows. Which I think is particularly fascinating because almost every crystal enthusiast has selenite on their windowsills. More on that later.
The stone was named in 1747 by J.G. Wallerius, a Swedish chemist and mineralogist, when he wrote Mineralogia,”>Mineralogia, eller Mineralriket.
Gypsum was used also by the Egyptians for decorative purposes (and I’m sure for its energetic cleansing properties as well).
Another unique use of selenite is in the Santa Sabina church in Rome: the large arched windows (built in the 5th century) are made of sheets of selenite, not glass.
Again, no coincidence this stone was used for windows.

Chakras And Signs Of Selenite
Selenite is predominately associated with the higher chakras, the crown, and the third eye. However, this divine crystal is good for removing conscious or subconscious blocks in energy, no matter which chakra it resides in.
Selenite is not a traditional birthstone but is associated with the zodiac sign of Taurus.
Selenite is a stone of the wind element, its airy nature is well suited to the ethereal aspects of life.
My Selenite Poem.

I hope you appreciated my poem. It just came to me. Fairly elementary I know, but I decided to leave it versus delete it. Working on that vulnerable inner child shit.

Healing Properties Of Selenite
Physical Healing
I was not even aware of the physical healing properties before I started doing my research! Ready to hear the first one? If you’re a reader of my blog, you may already have an inkling of where this is heading…
Cellular Health!!
Selenite can be used to facilitate the regeneration of the cellular structure and the protective membrane linings which surround the cell. Therefore providing a tool to prevent and overcome damage caused by free radicals!
Hold close to that wand or palm stone my friends.
It is also well known to help with skeletal issues, correcting disorders and deformities.
Use selenite to go up and down the spinal column, from the base all the way up to the back of the head, and this will help to clear any energy blockages and will encourage spinal alignment. This also encourages muscle flexibility.
I have been having some dental issues recently, and when I was sitting with my selenite before writing this post, waving it around my body and holding it next to my heart. During this I was drawn to holding it against my jaw, just resting it there.
While researching using the book Love Is in the Earth: A Kaleidoscope of Crystals: The Reference Book Describing the Metaphysical Properties of the Mineral Kingdom I was astounded to read “It can be used to provide amelioration (improvement) of disorders associated with poisoning due to the metals in the “fillings” of the teeth.”
Whoa.
I had an idea that my dental issues may have something to do with my fillings, and that is a topic for another day.
It’s instances like this that you get the knowing you are on the right path; that leaning into your intuition, listening to the whispers, trusting the mystical, diving into the information, and using discernment, it really means something.
There are no coincides, we are here to live in alignment.
Selenite is also beneficial for sleep and the healing and spiritual travel that takes place there, so that sucker has found a new home under my pillow.

Metaphysical Healing and Uses
Selenite is a high vibrational crystal.
It can help us to connect to the higher realms, especially with angels. This soft and powerful mineral embraces the divine feminine and is a strong protector.
This stone loves to be light, it is a ray of light, with wings to raise us higher out of the chaos and the weight of our troubles.
Selenite proves clarity of the mind. It encourages you to open your eyes to the beauty of your surroundings. To stand in your freedom, liberated.
Selenite is a transmutation stone, it will absorb the negative energy and transmute it into pure light and energy.
Quoting from the aforementioned book of crystals:
“It can be used to access past lives as well as future lives – the future lives being those which are probable at this time, if ones physical life proceeds in the direction in which is is now going. This access is provided by rubbing the crystalline structure with a finer or thumb[not a fingernail]; during this activation process, when the meditative state is attained, the visual images will begin.”
Selenite Shapes and their Functions
Due to the soft nature of this stone, it can be formed into so many incredible shapes and used for beautiful jewelry.
My favorite is the Selenite wands, which I have in a variety of lengths to put on my windowsills, on my computer desk, and now under my pillow.
These are perfect for Reiki work and cleansing of the aura, or any space.
Palm stones and heart-shaped palm stones are perfect for meditation and carrying around on your person or keeping in your vehicle.
Selenite towers are lovely specimens to keep around your home to protect and clear the energy.
Charging plates and bowls are for exactly that! To set crystals on or in to help charge them and clear any energy the crystals have picked up.
The jewelry is beautiful and I love it for the energy transmutation properties, I have some pieces on order!
If you like raw crystals, Selenite will absolutely not disappoint.
The crystal websites Throwing Stones and RockParadise offer impressive and affordable crystals, I recommend checking out their wide range of selenite and other products!

Final Thoughts
I’m still sitting here in awe of Selenite.
If you don’t already have one or more pieces in your collection, this would be my first recommendation.
Have a magnificent and motivated Tuesday!
Love and vibes,
